Opening password vs. permissions password
An opening (user) password is requested before a reader can show a protected PDF. This tool can create an unencrypted copy after the correct opening password is supplied, but only when the file's permission flags allow ordinary copying, editing, and related document operations.
A permissions (owner) password controls actions such as printing, copying, or editing. Some restricted files open without an opening prompt. This tool does not remove those restrictions: its browser library does not expose whether a supplied password was validated with owner-level access, so the page rejects a PDF whenever its permission flags restrict actions. It cannot use an opening password to override them.
What the downloaded copy changes
The browser validates the opening password, checks the PDF permission flags, copies readable pages into a new PDF, and downloads that copy without password encryption. Choose one PDF up to 20 MB per run; its bytes stay in the browser rather than being sent to a processing server.
This PDF password remover supports removing a password from a PDF only when you know its correct opening password and ordinary copying is allowed. It cannot recover, crack, or bypass an unknown password.
This page-copy rebuild is not a password-recovery service and does not defeat an unknown password. Because it creates a new document from copied pages, some document-level or interactive features may not carry over. Reopen the copy and inspect its pages and required features before sharing or relying on it.
Frequently asked questions
Can a PDF password remover help with removing a password from a PDF if I forgot it?
No. This tool cannot discover, crack, or bypass an unknown password. Try the opening password you remember for this document; ask the sender to provide it again; or ask the original author or institution to resend the PDF or provide the password. The tool works only with the correct opening password and does not remove restrictive permissions.
My PDF opens, but printing or copying is restricted. Can this page remove the limits?
No. This tool cannot safely confirm owner-level access, so it rejects documents whose permission flags restrict those actions—even if an owner password is available.
Does an opening password differ from a permissions password?
Yes. An opening password is requested before the document can be viewed. An owner/permissions password controls allowed actions. This page handles known opening passwords only when the document has no restrictive permission flags; it does not remove owner/permissions restrictions.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF bytes and entered password are handled in the browser; only the page's processing library is downloaded as a site asset.
Only process documents you own or are authorized to edit. Do not use this tool to bypass access controls on files you are not authorized to change.
